This capital city of Himachal Pradesh is located at an altitude of 2,128 meters and is also referred as the ‘Queens of Hills'. Both national and international tourists come here to enjoy pleasant summer and snowy winter. The colonial charm makes it a picture perfect town which is an unparalleled destination of India. Some of the well known attractions of this place are:

The Glen:

This is the famous picnic spot of Shimla which is located at a distance of 4 km and at an altitude of 6003 ft from sea level. It is among the most romantic attractions of this place which is known for its scenic ambiance of pine and deodars. The surroundings of woods, green and rolling grass slopes makes it an amazing tourist spot where one can see the best of natural beauty. This beauty of this place attracts almost every tourist.

Jakhu Temple:

The religious significance as well scenic beauty make this place a high flying attraction of Shimla. It is the temple located at an altitude of 1455 meter dedicated to Lord Hamunana. According to Hindu mythology it is the place where Lord Hanumana rested while returning with the Sanjeevani herb along with the whole Dronagiri Parvat (mountain). To reach this place 2 km trekking is required through dense forests which give tourists a chance to enjoy the pristine beauty of natural panorama.


Ridge:

This is the important center of Shimla which is known for its wide-open plane that runs east to west alongside the Mall Road. Due to its cultural and social significance it is also referred as the heart of Shimla. This place is interconnected with all the major places like Lakkar Bazaar, Mall, Scandal Point, Jakhoo hill, etc. It is a popular and famous hangout of this place where one can see the varieties of social and cultural life. The famous Shimla Summer Festival is also held at this place during the month of April or May every year.

Due to the salubrious climate Shimla is visited by scores of tourists round the year but the best time to visit this place is during October to November and from March to May. Along with the above mentioned attractions some other popular places to see here are Viceregal Lodge, Photo Art Gallery, Sankat Mochan Temple,Tara Devi Temple, Shimla Ridge Christ Church etc.
